State of Tamil Nadu

The home of the Tamils since prehistoric times, Tamil Nadu is very well endowed culturally and economically. It is one of the most prosperous and wealthy states in India. Tamil Nadu today is divided into 31 districts and forms the southern tip of India at Kanyakumari.

Chennai is the state capital and the fourth largest city in India. Madurai, Thanjavur, Kanchipuram and Coimbatore are other major cities. Tamil Nadu has long been a patron of the arts and culture, and also boasts one of the biggest film industries in the country.
